What are Lingual Braces, or "Hidden Braces"?

Concealed braces, also known as lingual "hidden" or invisible braces, are the best and only non-visible form of fixed orthodontic therapy. Lingual braces are truly a reliable form of orthodontic therapy by utilizing principles similar to those of traditional braces.

Special instrumentation, equipment, doctor and staff training are required for this technique. These braces can be used on both arches or in combination with outside clear braces on the lower teeth.

Are lingual braces more expensive?

Yes, they may cost more than conventional braces. Lingual braces are specifically made to each patient's teeth and require special doctor and staff training.

Does the treatment with lingual braces take longer than outside braces?

No, treatment time is comparable to that of outside braces and sometimes even shorter. Some cases respond more efficiently to lingual braces due to certain mechanical advantages of the appliance.

Can anyone get lingual braces?

Most patients are good candidates for lingual braces. There are a few exceptions. Dr.Allen Garai will determine the type of braces most beneficial for your treatment.

Lingual braces are not the only way to straighten your teeth without visible braces. Invisalign® is the invisible way to straighten teeth without braces.
